Nano Banana 2: Speed and Intelligence in Image Generation Model
Nano Banana 2 combines speed and intelligence to create AI images in seconds. Precise text, perfect consistency: everything you need to know.
In August 2025, Nano Banana became a viral phenomenon and revolutionized AI image generation. A few months later, Google launched Nano Banana Pro to offer creative control worthy of a professional studio. Today, the company is taking a new step with Nano Banana 2, also known by the technical name Gemini 3.1 Flash Image. This AI model combines the advanced intelligence of Nano Banana Pro with the lightning speed of Gemini Flash, marking a significant advance in the field of artificial intelligence-assisted image generation.

Pro-Quality AI Images in Seconds
Nano Banana 2 represents the best of both worlds. On one hand, it inherits the in-depth real-world knowledge of Nano Banana Pro, enabling the generation of precise images based on current information. On the other hand, it benefits from the execution speed of Gemini Flash, making almost instantaneous modifications and iterations possible.

This new version stands out for its ability to leverage Gemini’s knowledge base, enriched by real-time information from web searches. This results in more realistic renderings, particularly when it comes to representing specific subjects. Nano Banana 2 also excels in the creation of complex infographics, much like NotebookLM, capable of transforming simple notes into visually attractive diagrams or generating sophisticated data visualizations.

One of the model’s major strengths lies in its text processing. It can now generate legible text with remarkable precision, paving the way for the creation of professional marketing mock-ups or personalized greeting cards. Even more impressively, Nano Banana 2 can translate and localize text present in an image, thus facilitating the sharing of content internationally.
Visual Consistency and Perfect Text: Nano Banana 2 Brings New Capabilities
Beyond speed, Nano Banana 2 significantly closes the gap between rapidity and visual fidelity. The model offers high-level photorealistic quality, while maintaining generation times comparable to those of Flash.
Subject consistency represents a major improvement. The system can maintain the resemblance of up to five characters and preserve the fidelity of fourteen different objects within the same workflow. This feature is particularly valuable for creating storyboards or developing visual narratives without altering the appearance of the original elements.

Instruction following has also been significantly improved. Nano Banana 2 adheres more strictly to complex requests, capturing the specific nuances of each query. Creators now have production-ready specifications, with full control over various image formats and resolutions, ranging from 512 pixels up to 4K. This flexibility ensures that visuals maintain their sharpness, whether for a vertical social media post or a panoramic wallpaper.

Finally, the visual fidelity upgrade brings more vibrant lighting, richer textures, and more precise details. Nano Banana 2 thus maintains a high-quality aesthetic at the speed expected of a Flash model, demonstrating that it is no longer necessary to choose between performance and visual excellence.
Where and How to Use Nano Banana 2 Today
Google is rolling out Nano Banana 2 across its entire product ecosystem. The Gemini application now integrates this new model in all its modes (Fast, Thinking, and Pro), although Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers retain access to Nano Banana Pro for specialized tasks. The model is also available in Google Search via AI mode and Lens, accessible from the Google app as well as on mobile and desktop browsers, covering 141 new countries and territories in eight additional languages.
Developers can experiment with Nano Banana 2 via AI Studio and the Gemini API, available in preview. The model is also integrated into Google Antigravity and available in Vertex AI on Google Cloud. Flow, Google’s creative platform, makes Nano Banana 2 its default image generation model, accessible free of charge to all users.

Alongside these technological advances, Google is strengthening its approach to content provenance. The company couples its cutting-edge SynthID technology with interoperable Content Credentials C2PA, offering users a holistic view of AI usage. Since its launch in November, the SynthID verification feature in the Gemini app has been used over 20 million times in various languages, helping users identify AI-generated images, videos, and audio from Google. C2PA verification will also soon be available in the Gemini app.
Why Nano Banana 2 Will Change How You Create?
With Nano Banana 2, Google succeeds in the difficult challenge of combining advanced intelligence and execution speed in a single image generation model. This innovation marks an important step in the democratization of AI-assisted creation tools, making functionalities once reserved for professional versions accessible to a wider audience.

Whether for quickly creating marketing visuals, developing complex narratives, or simply experimenting with image generation, Nano Banana 2 offers an optimal balance between performance and quality. Google’s commitment to AI content traceability, through SynthID and C2PA, also demonstrates a responsible approach to the ethical challenges posed by these technologies.
