AMD Developer Hackathon: Build AI Agents with AMD Power

The AMD Developer Hackathon offers mentors, cloud credits, and real-world challenges. Submit your project by May 9!

Generative AI is evolving at full speed, and developers today have the unique opportunity to shape the future of intelligent workflows. The AMD Developer Hackathon invites you to take on this challenge: prototype, innovate, and deploy concrete AI applications, leveraging a powerful and accessible cloud infrastructure. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced developer, now is the time to turn your ideas into reality, with the support of a passionate tech community.

The AMD Developer Hackathon Challenge

Your mission is to build an AI agent, an application, or a developer tool that works end-to-end and showcases the AMD computing stack. Three tracks are available: AI Agents & Agentic Workflows (ideal for beginners with LangChain, CrewAI, or AutoGen), Fine-Tuning on AMD GPUs (for experts wishing to specialize LLMs), or Vision & Multimodal AI (to leverage images, video, and audio via models). A bonus challenge “Build in Public” also rewards participants who document their journey and share their feedback on the AMD developer experience.

Practical Information & Schedule for the AMD Developer Hackathon

The event takes place in a hybrid format: entirely online via the lablab.ai platform and dedicated Discord, with an in-person final in San Francisco, CA. All resources are accessible in the cloud; no hardware is required.

Who Can Participate in the AMD Developer Hackathon?

The AMD Developer Hackathon is open to all AI enthusiasts, with no level prerequisites. Solo or as a team (join the Discord to find teammates), you simply need to register for the AMD Developer Program to access cloud credits. No geographic or linguistic restrictions are mentioned.

Evaluation Criteria & Rules

The jury will evaluate your project based on four pillars: technological application (relevant model integration), presentation (clarity and impact), business value (concrete utility), and originality (creativity of the solution). Submissions must be original and comply with the MIT license.

Ready to code? It all starts with official registration: lablab.ai/ai-hackathons/amd-developer. Join the lablab.ai Discord for support, networking, and team formation. Access technical documentation: AMD Developer Cloud, ROCm, and offered DeepLearning.AI courses. Consult the Submission Guidelines and the Getting Started Guide on the platform to validate your GitHub repository, demo, and pitch video.

Why Participate?

Beyond the prizes, the AMD Developer Hackathon offers a unique skill accelerator: free access to MI300X GPUs, cloud credits, mentorship from AI experts (Netflix, Walmart, AMD), and visibility within a global tech community. It’s an opportunity to test your ideas in real-world conditions, enrich your portfolio, and potentially attract the attention of industry partners.
